Bob McDonald, former chairman of the board of the Institute of Internal Auditors globally, has been awarded the Order of Australia medal in this year’s Queen’s birthday honours.
McDonald, an active member of the institute for more than 15 years, was honoured in the general division for services to the audit profession, particularly through the work of the IIA. During his time with IIA he served as chairman of IIA Australia’s (IIAA) Queensland chapter, national director on IIAA’s national board, national president of IIAA and South Pacific director and regional director on the IIA international board.
In 1998, McDonald was selected as a member of an international team tasked with reviewing the internal audit function of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. He has presented internationally on internal audit in Asia, Europe and the Americas and is currently a member of the executive committee of the IIA.
